Be their guest!

Booking a table at your favourite restaurant has never been so easy. The founders of The Chope Group saw a gap in the market, born from their own frustrations of the restaurant booking process. Now they are proudly bringing more diners to Singapore restaurants and are embracing technology at every step of the way.

Tell us about how The Chope Group was conceived and then became a reality?

Our co-founders noticed that people were booking everything else online – hotels, airlines, taxis and cinemas, but restaurant reservations were the ONLY time we ever have to pick up the phone. Not only that, we’d have to make sure to call during operating hours, struggle to be heard and understood… It felt like a hugely inefficient process that could be made simpler.

What is something unusual that people may not know about The Chope Group?

You’ll soon be seeing us in malls around Singapore! We recently launched a partnership with Capitaland Malls to power in-mall queuing systems for restaurants. We’re really excited about helping shoppers spend less time waiting, more time shopping, and eating without any of the waiting.

Why did you decide to go solar? And why did you choose Sun Electric?

Moving to renewable energy seems like a no-brainer when it comes to long-term decisions, and considering it projected a reduction in our utility bills, there weren’t many reasons to say no. Sun Electric is one of the most established names in the local market in the sector, so it was really an easy choice!

How has the switch to solar benefited The Chope Group?

Moving to solar energy not only reduces our utility bills, but also really brings together all our policies in a holistic way. We work very hard to make Chope a progressive, inclusive company, and it would be a bit hypocritical to not be as progressive when making decisions the basic necessities. We’re very happy to be able to put our money where our mouth is, so to speak.

Where would you like to see Singapore in the coming years?

We’d definitely love to see Singapore explore new technology, whether it’s going online to make restaurant reservations, or exploring renewable energy with Sun Electric. We like to think of Singapore as a leader in technology adoption, but it’s important to keep that going by always keeping an open mind to new ideas and ways of doing things.
