You have the option to transfer back to SP upon expiration of your existing retail contract.

No, you do not need to have access to a roof to buy solar energy.
How can I monitor and track my electricity usage with Sun Electric? Is there an app?
Sun Electric will provide the consumer with a measurement of the total clean energy delivered to them each month. Consumers who wish to obtain additional details may log into their accounts online (at https://portal.sunelectric.com.sg/) to observe the real time generation of energy to them.
What are the environmental impact and benefits of solar energy?
Solar power systems derive clean energy from the sun. Installing solar panels or buying solar energy reduces our dependence on fossil fuels, reduce toxic emissions and may also help to fight global warming.
What distinguishes Sun Electric from other energy retailers?
We are the only utility that can consistently tag and measure your monthly solar consumption and usage. Sun Electric is the first solar energy retailer in Singapore, and the developer of technology that tracks your energy usage on the energy grid!

Business Billing & Payment

How can I pay my Sun Electric bill?
For your convenience, you can choose to apply for GIRO payment with your bank, cheque or bank transfer.
How can I pay the security deposit?
Security deposit will be cleared on account opening before the process for switch.  
How often will I be billed?
As a Sun Electric customer, you will be billed on a monthly basis with the applicable third party charges as stated in your Electricity Agreement with us. You have the option of settling payment via GIRO or cheque within 10 business days.
I have submitted GIRO form, what is the status?
GIRO application takes 4 weeks to process after submission. Customers are advised to make payments manually until you receive a confirmation email.
If I terminate the contract, when can I receive the security deposit?
Refund of the security deposit takes up to 1 month to process after a full settlement of the outstanding balance under the terminated account.
If my account is no longer with Sun Electric, how do I terminate my GIRO/credit card recurring payment?
Inform your bank to cancel the recurring payment. We will no longer utilise the recurring payment upon termination.
Will there be early termination charges?
Depending on the circumstances leading to the termination, you may incur an early termination fee. The early termination charges are as follows:
  • Early Termination Charges = 50% × Unexpired Term × Average Contract Value
  • Where “Unexpired Term” means the number of months including a part thereof (calculated to the next higher whole number) between the date of termination and the date the Supply Duration would otherwise have expired;
  • “Average Contract Value” means the higher of (exclusive of GST) the average of the total amount payable by the Consumer to the Retailer based on the average electricity consumption of three (3) months (before the date of termination)

Business Contract Renewal

How do I know when my contract ends?
Our price plans offer a variety of contract durations depending on your preference. Your contract end date will be clearly stated in your contract upon successful transfer and in every bill, you receive from us.
How do I renew?
At least one month before your contract expires, we will send out a notice to you with renewal instructions. If you wish to terminate the intent of renewal, please inform us at least ten (10) business days in advance, before the contractual end date If the Sun Electric team did not contact you and your contract has ended, please send us an enquiry online at (www.sunelectric.com.sg/)
How far in advance may I renew my contract?
Sun Electric will contact you directly before your contract end date to see what plans you wish to renew with.
Are master-metered accounts eligible for contestability?
A landlord with a master-sub metering arrangement can be contestable either under the En-Bloc Contestability Scheme or Demand Aggregation Scheme.
Do I need to change my meter to sign up with Sun Electric?
For Home consumers, our price plans require you to switch to an AMI meter to allocate the solar energy to your account. For non-contestable Business consumers who would like to gain contestability, you will need to install a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) electricity meter. The installation charge by SP PowerGrid will be at $40/meter (excl GST).
I am a contestable consumer, and my premises has been installed with an advanced meter (i.e. AMI meter). Can I simply switch off my incoming power supply if I wish to do so?
You can switch off your incoming supply via the circuit breaker located after the advanced meter. If you decide to switch off your power supply by turning off the incoming circuit breaker before the meter at the meter board, it will affect the communications connectivity of the advanced meter. Hence you will have to inform SP Group at least 7 business days in advance before you perform such a temporary disconnection.
If the meter is faulty, how will Sun Electric bill for my consumption?
Report any meter faults immediately to SP PowerGrid Ltd at 1800-778 8888 and they will investigate and replace it. SP Services Ltd will determine the meter reading to be billed during the irregularity period, based on the Metering Code approved by EMA.
What are the charges for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters?
For all commercial accounts, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters will be used to measure electricity consumption remotely at half-hourly intervals and SP Power Grid Ltd will impose a one-time installation fee of $40 per AMI meter (exclusive of GST).
What are the different types of meters?
There are two types of electricity meters:
  1. A Static Residential Load Profile (SRLP) meter is a cumulative meter used by most households to measure electricity consumption. These meters are read on a bi-monthly basis by SP Group (SP Services). On the months where the meters are not read, SP Group (SP Services) will estimate the month’s consumption.
  2.  Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters which measure electricity consumption remotely at half-hourly intervals. From 1 April 2014, eligible consumers will have their Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) electricity meter installed by SP PowerGrid before approval of their contestability application. There will be a charge of S$40 for each new meter installed.
Who is responsible for my meter reading?
The Market Support Services Licensee, held by SP Services Ltd, is currently the sole regulated licensee responsible for meter readings under the Electricity Act.

Business Moving Premises

How do I close my account?
Contact our Customer Solution Specialist at 6651 5484 or drop us an inquiry at (www.sunelectric.com.sg) We will issue out the final billing and inform MSSL on your behalf.
How long in advance do I need to close or open my utilities account with SP Group?
SP Group needs at least 7 business days to close your utilities account and open a new account.
I am moving to a new premises. How do I transfer my service?
Contact our Customer Solution Specialist at 6651 5484 or drop us an inquiry at (www.sunelectric.com.sg) and inform us of on your intention for relocation. We will assist you accordingly.
Can I transfer the security deposit from SP Group to Sun Electric?
Your security deposit cannot be transferred. It will be refunded by SP Services upon transfer.
Does the reliability and quality of electricity supply depend on my choice of retailer?
No, the electricity market in Singapore is designed and regulated by the Energy Market Authority. This means the reliability and quality of electricity supply is the same regardless of the retailer you choose.
How do I close my account?

How do I know if I’m eligible to switch to an electricity retailer?
Only contestable businesses can buy from Sun Electric. If your monthly consumption is at least 2,000 kWh and your account is “non-domestic”, you are eligible. The Energy Market Authority (“EMA”) approves your eligibility and deems you as a ‘Contestable Consumer’. A ’Contestable Consumer’ are those who are eligible to buy electricity from retailers of their choice outside of SP Services Ltd.   Businesses who are master-metered account holders for premises under the master/submetering scheme. Such customers can only switch to become market consumers under En Bloc Contestability Scheme (EBS) or the Demand Aggregation Scheme (DAS).
How do I switch from SP to Sun Electric?
Please fill out the “Get a Quote” form on our website so our Sales staff can register you. You will need to have these items ready:
  • MSSL account number
  • Approved signatory’s NRIC number and scanned images of the back and front of the ID
  • Your most recent ACRA file
  • Business contact and address
  • Last month’s electricity bill
  • Address of premise to which electricity is supplied
How long will it take to do the transfer?
If your business is eligible and you have not applied for contestability, the transfer takes up to 4 – 6 weeks. If your business is eligible and you have already applied for contestability, to switch to Sun Electric, it will require:
  • at least 2 business days (if your current supplier is SP Services)
  • at least 6 business days (if you have already switched out of SP Services)
How much security deposit would I have to pay upon sign up with Sun Electric?
Security Deposit for Small Businesses will be calculated using the following equation: Security Deposit = Average Monthly Consumption (kWh) * Rate (per kWh) * 2
Will there be any disruption to my electricity supply during my transfer to Sun Electric?
No, your electricity supply will not be affected by the transfer as the process is a seamless, purely administrative and performed electronically by Sun Electric’s team. However, if you have requested a meter change, there may be a downtime less than 30 minutes during the meter installation.

CIS

Am I eligible for Sun Electric CIS? How do I know if my company is enrolled?
As long as your company uses Sun Electric to power their business, their employees are eligible for the Sun Electric CIS programme. To if check if your company is enrolled to the Sun Electric CIS programme, you may:
  1. Check with your company’s HR department, or
  2. Drop us an email with your enquiry at info@sunelectric.com.sg
Can I downgrade or terminate my CIS subscription?
Yes, you can. Please email us at electricity@sunelectric.com.sg for more details. Do note that a termination fee applies if your electricity supply is still in contract.
How do I apply for the Sun Electric CIS?

How long is the contract period?
Under the CIS programme, the contract period is 2 years.
I am already a Sun Electric customer. Can I get CIS benefits?
CIS benefits can only be applied by customers who are new to Sun Electric.
I don’t have a corporate email address. How can I sign up for the CIS programme?
Send us an email at info@sunelectric.com.sg with a copy of your staff id or any proof.
My company is currently not in the CIS programme. How can I enrol my company?

What are the administrative charges?
Similar to your current retailer, you are required to pay a 2 months security deposit to open an account with us. There are no other registration fees or any hidden costs.
What if I leave my employer before the end of my contract? Will my contract be terminated?
No, as long as you are a CIS customer, you will remain a CIS customer. However, please remember to update your contact information.
What is Sun Electric CIS?
Designed to benefit employees of participating companies in Singapore, Sun Electric Corporate Individual Scheme (CIS) provides exclusive perks such as exclusive discounts, priority services and registration. Each employee from the participating company can also sign up their family members living in separate households.
What is the discount offered on the monthly subscriptions for my company?
Depending on your household, we can offer you a discount off the SP tariff. Additionally, we offer an exclusive one time signup bonus only for CIS customers.

When you do the switch is it purely using solar?
Sun Electric offers our residential customers a blend of solar and conventional electricity through our SolarFlex and SolarLite products. SolarFlex will be the most cost competitive plan that allows our customers to receive, up to 5% solar. SolarLite customers will be given at least 5% solar through the month
Where are the solar panels, is there enough?
Sun Electric has solar panels installed on rooftops all over Singapore. We have installations lined up for the next 3-4 years. As we are able to mix the amount of solar and conventional power for you, you will always continue to receive undisrupted power.
Will I get consistent stream of energy?
Yes, Singapore Power will still be maintaining the national grid. Therefore, there will still be a consistent stream of energy throughout your contract with us.

Homes Billing

Can I receive a hardcopy of my bill?
Sun Electric offers paperless billing. If you wish to have a hard copy of the bill, you can print your invoice via the email sent.
How can I view my bill?
Your monthly bill and your payment due date will be sent to you via email.
How much is the late payment charge?
The late payment charge for a home account is 1% interest on unpaid amount.
I have submitted GIRO form, what is the status?
If you submit your GIRO application by post it will take 2-6 weeks to process after submission. We will email you a confirmation email once we receive approval from the bank. Customers are advised to make payments manually until you receive a confirmation email from Sun Electric.
If I terminate the contract, when can I receive the security deposit?
Refund of the security deposit takes up to 1 month to process after a full settlement of the outstanding balance under the terminated account.
What are the available bill payment modes?
For your convenience, you can choose to pay with your credit card or apply for GIRO payment.
What will happen to my U-Save rebate?
You will still be able to use your U-Save GST Voucher to offset your electricity bills. However, any credits disbursed to you will first be used to offset any outstanding balance with SP Services.
When are the monthly bills issued?
You will receive your invoice on the 25th calendar day from the last day of your billing period.
When is the final bill issued?
On the next billing cycle after the account is closed.
When will I receive my first invoice from Sun Electric?
Your first bill will be emailed to you approximately 65 days after your contract start date.

Homes Contract Renewal

How do I know when my contract ends?

What happens when my contract ends?
Sun Electric will contact you 1 month before your contract ends to advise on our latest price plans to renew on.
  1. If there are changes to the price plans and no renewal action taken by end of the contract, the customer will automatically be transferred out to MSSL
  2. If there are NO changes to the price plans and no renewal action is taken by the end of the contract, the customer account will automatically be renewed to the next 12 months.

If the meter is faulty, how will Sun Electric bill for my consumption?
Report any meter faults to SP Power Grid Ltd and they will schedule an appointment at your premise. SP Services Ltd will determine the meter reading to be billed, based on the Metering Code approved by EMA.
May I know if I will be charged for Loss Adjusted Consumption?
We bill customers based on the reading that SP provides us (which includes the Loss-Adjusted Consumption).

Can my contract to be transferred to a new premise?
The contract cannot be transferred to a new premise address.
Can my contract to be transferred to the new owner/tenant of my premise?
The existing account must be closed and the new occupant of the premise is required to apply to sign up on behalf of their own account. Early Termination Costs may apply depending on your contract.
I am moving. What do I do?
If you are moving to a new house in Singapore, you will need to end the contract and open a new account with SP Services. Upon opening a new account, you can then reapply with Sun Electric
When moving to a new house, will the early termination costs occur?
You will not be charged an Early Termination Fee as long as you sign a new contract for your new address. The duration of the new contract should at least cover the period of remaining months from the old contract. The commencement date of the new contract should not be later than 6 months from the termination of the previous contract.
Can I transfer the security deposit from SP Group to Sun Electric
Your security deposit cannot be transferred. It will be refunded by SP Services upon transfer.

How do I switch? Is there any registration fee?

How long does it take to process my application?
It takes 30 days for residential consumers to make the switch from SP to Sun Electric because we request your meter to be changed to an AMI meter.
How will my existing utilities with SP Services be affected if I switch over to Sun Electric?
You will continue to receive your gas and water bills from SP Services, while Sun Electric will be billing you directly for your electricity consumption.
What happens when I need to terminate the contract early?

Solar Roof

Am I responsible for making any payments to Sun Electric or for my generator?
Although there are options to purchase solar energy from Sun Electric, there is no obligation to do so even while participating in the SolarSpace® programme. As such, the building will only receive revenue that is due and will not be charged additionally even if there is a drop in the local energy rate.The building owners also have the option to co-invest into the solar energy generator with Sun Electric. Through this co-investment, the building can make additional income from the solar energy generator. This is on top of the regular income from participating in the SolarSpace® programme.
Can I offer my rooftop as part of the SolarSpace® programme but have an energy provider who is different from Sun Electric?
Yes, Sun Electric can install a solar energy generator at your building even if power is being supplied by a different energy provider.
Do I need to purchase energy from Sun Electric if I install solar panels on my roof as part of the SolarSpace® programme?
As part of the consultation, Sun Electric will provide rooftop owners with various options to purchase solar energy, however there is no obligation to do so.
Do I need to sign any agreement with Sun Electric?
Rooftop owners need to sign a license agreement with Sun Electric and allow the company to request for an electrical permit on behalf of the building.
How do I know how much solar energy is generated?
Before signing a lease agreement, Sun Electric will do a comprehensive assessment of your facilities. Thereafter, we will send you a specific quantitative report which includes revenue data and power generation data. Rooftop owners who wish to obtain additional details may log onto their accounts online to observe the real time generation of electricity.
How long do I need to let Sun Electric use my rooftop?
Sun Electric will use the roof space until the stipulated end date as stated on the license agreement. After which, rooftop owners have the option of buying the solar system or continue to provide roof space to Sun Electric.
How long will the solar energy system last?
Typically, a solar energy system will produce energy for more than 25 years due to the durability of photovoltaic modules. Warranties on our energy systems have a duration of about 25 years.
How much revenue can I expect to make by providing my roof as part of the SolarSpace® programme?
Before signing the lease agreement, Sun Electric will do a comprehensive assessment of your facilities. Thereafter, we will send you a specific quantitative report which includes revenue data and power generation data.
Is there any risk that my rooftop will be damaged from the installation of solar Panels?
Sun Electric will maintain the solar system and will not damage nor modify the existing roof seals.
What are the additional benefits of providing my rooftop to Sun Electric?
The solar panels when installed, will reduce the thermal roof heat transfer in the building, keeping the building cooler. Furthermore, the panels will limit acoustic noise during rain and will protect the roof seal which will no longer be exposed to harmful UV rays. The lifespan of the seal can be extended as a result.
What is the difference between Sun Electric’s offer and solar leasing business model which are already matured in Singapore market?
Under SolarSpace® programme, roof developers have options of not to purchase the generated energy or purchase clean energy which are more than what your roof allowed via our retail arm. With Sun Electric patterned innovation, the generated clean energy is able to sell as clean energy to other contestable client hence the roof developers’ energy consumption is not our concern.
Who is responsible for the waterproofing warranty if the Solar Energy Generators are installers under SolarSpace® programme?
Should there is leakage happens proven to because of the solar PV system, Sun Electric shall take responsible to reseal the leakage area.
